Civic poll candidate list deferred; SEC told to examine nomination complaints

The Supreme Court’s October 21 order directs Andhra Pradesh’s State Election Commission to postpone the final candidate list until October 25 and decide by October 22 on complaints that candidates could not file nominations because of law-and-order problems. Where an extension is granted, it must allow at least 48 hours from publication of that decision. The court also ordered nomination-centre security and additional district-headquarters arrangements where necessary. A further SEC decision must be checked before describing the current statewide election position.
