Medical research and responsible use of health technology were the focus of Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan’s address at Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences in Vijayawada on October 26. The Vice-President’s Secretariat reported that he addressed the university’s 40th anniversary celebrations.
He urged the university to work with leading institutions so students and researchers could gain wider exposure to research and emerging technologies. Referring to AI, telemedicine and digital health, he said innovation needed scientific validation and safeguards for patients, privacy and ethics. He also emphasised that technology could not replace compassion in medical care.
The address called on medical professionals to help build awareness against drug abuse. At the programme, he joined an anti-drug pledge and released a souvenir marking the university’s four decades. These were a completed event and calls for action; the release did not announce a funded research programme or a signed university partnership.
