The 53-km Satna–Devendranagar and 65-km Rewa–Churhat railway sections were inaugurated in Madhya Pradesh on 24 October 2026, the Ministry of Railways said in a PIB release. A new Devendranagar–Churhat passenger train service was also flagged off.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw participated by video conference from New Delhi, while Chief Minister Mohan Yadav joined the programme in Madhya Pradesh. The ministry places the new sections within the Lalitpur–Singrauli railway project and says they strengthen connectivity across the Vindhya and Bundelkhand regions.
The ministry expects the connections to improve access to education, employment, healthcare and regional markets. These are expected benefits of the infrastructure; the inauguration announcement does not establish measured gains in income, freight volumes or travel demand.
The release also discusses other railway projects under way in the state and possible future train services. Those projections are separate from the passenger service flagged off on 24 October. It does not provide a detailed operating timetable, train number, stopping pattern or fare for the new service, so travellers should confirm those details before planning a journey.
