All 37 contract workers involved in an employment dispute at an ESIC Model Hospital in Karnataka were redeployed with effect from October 23, the Union Labour and Employment Ministry said in an October 26 release. Approximately ₹7.40 lakh in outstanding wages for September 2026 was also paid, according to the ministry.
The Karnataka State ESIC Model Hospital Contract Workers’ Union had raised the dispute after nursing orderlies and supporting staff were disengaged before their contract period ended. The Assistant Labour Commissioner (Central), Bengaluru, took up conciliation, involving ESIC as the principal employer and the contractor.
The release reports redeployment and payment following conciliation. It does not announce permanent appointments, a fresh recruitment drive or an individual wage amount for each worker.
