EPFO launched WhatsApp services and automatic settlement of eligible inoperative provident-fund accounts at its 74th Foundation Day celebration in New Delhi on November 1, 2026, according to the Ministry of Labour and Employment. Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya launched the initiatives. This follows the earlier announcement that the launch was planned for November 1.
The ministry says subscribers with Aadhaar-verified inoperative EPF accounts holding up to ₹1,000 will not need to submit individual claims. EPFO will initiate settlement after the prescribed identity and bank-account verification. Approximately one lakh accounts, involving ₹5 crore, are expected to benefit; this is an expected coverage figure, rather than confirmation that every payment has already reached a bank account.
Through EPFO's verified WhatsApp service, subscribers will be able to access their PF balance, latest five transactions and passbook information, along with personalised guidance on PMVBRY-related requirements, the ministry said. The release does not give a WhatsApp number or a deadline for individual payments.
The automatic-settlement initiative concerns eligible existing EPF dues. It does not announce a ₹1,000 grant for all workers, or automatic settlement of every inactive account regardless of balance and verification.
