CSIR zonal tournament: Goa, Pilani and Lucknow labs secure qualifying places

Teams from CSIR laboratories in Goa, Pilani and Lucknow secured qualifying places at the first outdoor zonal event of the 53rd Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Memorial Tournament, held at CSIR–National Physical Laboratory in New Delhi from October 23 to 26.

In cricket, CSIR–National Institute of Oceanography, Goa, and CSIR–Central Electronics Engineering Research Institute, Pilani, qualified. In volleyball, CSIR–National Botanical Research Institute, Lucknow, and CSIR–CEERI, Pilani, advanced, according to the Ministry of Science and Technology’s PIB release. These are zonal qualification results, rather than overall tournament titles.

Eight teams competed in each sport, with 112 cricket players and 64 volleyball players. The closing function took place on October 26. The release does not provide match scores or dates for the next stage.
