Green Diwali campaign launched nationwide, PIB says
A nationwide Green Diwali campaign has been launched from October 20 to November 8, 2026, according to a PIB release. The campaign appeals to citizens not to use firecrackers and to adopt environmentally friendly practices during Diwali. It is expected to reach schools, colleges, educational institutions, resident welfare associations and local communities, with special focus on 130 cities covered under the National Clean Air Programme, the release said. The release said participants are encouraged to use earthen lamps and low-energy lights, avoid single-use plastic, segregate waste and choose local products. These are official campaign claims. [e-0-0]
