Students from three Nagaland institutions took part in a two-week media internship in Dimapur organised by the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Kolkata, with the Indian Army’s Spear Corps. An October 23 announcement says the programme has been completed.
Mass communication and journalism students from St. Joseph University, Patkai Christian College and Tetso College received practical exposure to audio-visual production, digital storytelling and responsible communication. The programme focused on helping participants document local experiences and communicate information accurately.
SRFTI vice-chancellor Santosh Ajmera said practical storytelling skills could support livelihoods, improve media literacy and bring local perspectives to wider audiences. The institute linked the initiative to opportunities in the creative economy and the need for credible digital content.
SRFTI also expressed willingness to support similar programmes as a technical partner, offering expertise in media training and production. The completed internship provides an example of taking specialist film and television education beyond the institute’s regular classroom setting.
