The Central Consumer Protection Authority has imposed a ₹1 lakh penalty on Hogar Technologies and Innovations LLP for walkie-talkie advertisements that did not clearly disclose operating frequencies and applicable licensing requirements, the Consumer Affairs Ministry said on 25 October 2026.
According to the ministry’s account of the order, Hogar said it held a Dealer Possessing Licence and relevant Equipment Type Approval certifications, and that its website provided information and sales leads rather than direct online transactions. The CCPA said regulatory approvals do not remove the duty to give consumers complete material information before purchase. It also said website promotions remain subject to advertising requirements even without a payment gateway or shopping cart.
The ministry reported more than 16,970 non-compliant listings identified across platforms, notices to 13 e-commerce entities and final orders against 12 entities with cumulative penalties of ₹58 lakh. These are totals for the wider enforcement exercise, not figures attributable solely to Hogar. Several other companies have challenged orders or proceedings in judicial forums; the release does not report those challenges as finally decided.
