India–Indonesia Garuda Shakti exercise begins at Banyuwangi

The 11th India–Indonesia Garuda Shakti joint special-forces exercise has begun at Banyuwangi, Indonesia, the Defence Ministry reported on October 27, 2026. It is scheduled to run from October 27 to November 6.

The Indian contingent comprises Parachute Regiment Special Forces troops, alongside Indonesian Special Forces personnel. The ministry says the exercise aims to improve mutual understanding, cooperation and interoperability, and will conclude with a validation exercise. Those are stated training objectives and planned activities, not independently measured results or confirmation that the exercise has already ended.
