A Mumbai research institute has signed a technology-transfer agreement with Trust ARS Rubber Private Limited of Chengalpattu for protective gloves designed for cotton-picking workers. ICAR-CIRCOT signed the memorandum on October 22; the agriculture ministry announced it on October 23.
The gloves are designed to protect hands from sharp cotton bracts while allowing flexibility during harvesting. The institute describes them as reusable and durable. The agreement is intended to bring the technology into commercial production and make it more widely available.
For the cotton value chain, the development links a research product with a manufacturing partner. The announcement does not give a retail price, sales-launch date or number of gloves supplied, so wider availability remains an expected outcome rather than a completed rollout.
