The Defence Acquisition Council granted Acceptance of Necessity to capital acquisition proposals estimated at about ₹2.12 lakh crore at an October 26 meeting chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. The Defence Ministry describes this as in-principle administrative clearance. It does not establish signed contracts, expenditure already incurred or equipment delivered.
Army proposals cover mobility vehicles, a tracked gun system, helicopters, short-range air defence, surveillance and unmanned systems. Navy proposals include an active offboard decoy system and major naval platforms. Air Force proposals include helicopters, air-defence systems, weapons and mobile X-band Doppler weather radar for local weather surveillance in forward areas.
The ministry expects approximately 82% of the procurements covered by these clearances to come from Indian industry. It did not name winning suppliers or give contract-by-contract prices and delivery dates. The estimated package should therefore not be treated as completed orders or realised revenue for a particular company. The described capability improvements remain intended outcomes of future acquisitions.
