The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence says it uncovered an alleged synthetic-drug manufacturing laboratory in Jalaun district, Uttar Pradesh, during an operation begun in the early hours of October 29, 2026. The Finance Ministry's October 30 release says DRI officers received operational assistance from the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad and that two people were arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985. These are the investigating agency's account and allegations; the announcement does not report a conviction.
The ministry describes the overall seizure as approximately 1,100 kg of drugs and precursor chemicals combined. It is not a claim that the entire quantity was finished drugs. The release lists about 184 kg of semi-prepared drugs and 582 kg of precursor chemicals at the laboratory, followed by 15.4 kg of finished methaqualone and about 153 kg of chemicals at residential premises. A further search reportedly recovered about 168 kg of precursor chemicals. Equipment was also seized.
The quantities and descriptions are attributed to DRI's reported recoveries. The release does not give a market valuation or report a court finding of guilt. No independent laboratory assessment or judicial determination is claimed in this report.
