The Ministry of Home Affairs has invited public and stakeholder feedback by November 5, 2026, on the network architecture of a proposed nationwide broadband communications system for public-safety agencies. The consultation was announced in an October 23 release carried by PIB.
The proposed Broadband Public Protection and Disaster Relief network, or BB-PPDR, is intended to support mission-critical push-to-talk, data and video communications for police, Central Armed Police Forces, disaster-response teams, fire and medical services and other public-safety agencies. This is a proposal and design consultation; the announcement does not establish that a nationwide network has been deployed.
The ministry is seeking views on design options, technology choices, their comparative advantages and drawbacks, cost efficiency and suitability for Indian conditions. It says a concept note is available on the MHA and Directorate of Coordination Police Wireless websites. This report describes the invitation itself, rather than technical specifications from that separate document.
Stakeholders can send comments to dd-ppdr@dcpw.gov.in and ad.ppdr@dcpw.gov.in using the subject line “BB-PPDR Architecture — Stakeholder Feedback”. The release gives November 5 as the deadline but does not specify a closing time or announce a procurement award, approved budget or rollout date.
