Telangana has been allocated ₹5,76,934 in a National Biodiversity Authority disbursement of approximately ₹1.04 crore to 27 State Biodiversity Boards and two Union Territory Biodiversity Councils, according to an Environment Ministry release published through PIB on 24 October 2026. The table gives the exact overall disbursement as ₹1,03,63,188.
The money comes from access-and-benefit-sharing contributions received from Crystal Crop Protection Limited, Savannah Seeds and Nunhems India for research and commercial use of agricultural biological resources. The release identifies pearl millet, jowar, maize, rice and bottle gourd among the crops concerned. These are reported benefit-sharing contributions, not newly announced company investments in Telangana.
NBA says it used an area-based allocation method where resources were obtained through markets or intermediaries and individual benefit claimants could not be identified. Crop cultivation area and geographical distribution informed the allocations. The Telangana figure is therefore a state-level allocation, not a payment promised to each farmer or a stated number of individual beneficiaries.
The ministry says the funds are to support biodiversity conservation and sustainable use, documentation, research, capacity building and local biodiversity governance under applicable provisions. The release separately mentions larger agriculture-sector contribution totals and cumulative NBA disbursements; those are not additional amounts in this particular ₹1.04-crore tranche.
