A high-level team led by the Chairperson of the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) visited Ropar, Hoshiarpur and Amritsar in Punjab to review paddy-straw management measures during the harvest season, according to a PIB Delhi release dated 23 October 2026. The team visited thermal power plants, CBG plants, Krishi Vigyan Kendras, farms and a biomass plant.
PIB said the commission directed state officials to meet co-firing targets at thermal power plants, ensure compliance with emission standards, improve timely availability of crop-residue-management machinery for farmers, and strengthen field monitoring to curb stubble-burning incidents. These are official directions and assessments; the release does not provide independent outcomes or figures on implementation.
