Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal began a Netherlands visit on October 25 with engagements focused on trade, investment and maritime logistics, his ministry said. The programme included a tour of the Port of Rotterdam and a meeting with the Indian community in Amsterdam.
The ministry presented Rotterdam’s transport links as an important route for Indian goods entering European markets. Its announcement described discussions and opportunities; it did not disclose a newly signed investment agreement or a quantified trade commitment.
Port of Rotterdam chief executive Boudewijn Siemons accompanied Goyal on the port tour. The ministry described the port as Europe’s largest and highlighted its role in international supply chains.
The release linked potential cooperation to the India–EU Free Trade Agreement, saying Dutch ports and logistics infrastructure could help Indian exporters access European markets. It did not set out tariff changes, implementation dates or new exporter eligibility rules.
Goyal also attended an Indian community interaction organised by the Embassy of India at the Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam. Approximately 70 people, including business and professional representatives, took part, according to the ministry.
The reported development is the start of the visit and the port and community engagements. The release provides no basis to treat the discussions as completed commercial deals or realised export gains.
