Sagarmala Finance Corporation Limited had sanctioned ₹11,563 crore in financing and disbursed ₹5,107 crore as of September 30, 2026, the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways said in an October 23 PIB release. The figures were announced as the corporation opened its corporate office in New Delhi.
The gap matters: sanctioned financing is an approved commitment, while disbursement records money actually released. The ministry said more than half the sanctioned amount remained to be drawn as projects progressed. SMFCL appraises and finances projects spanning ports, connecting roads and railways, inland waterways, coastal infrastructure, logistics, shipbuilding and ship repair.
The corporation is targeting cumulative disbursements of ₹60,205 crore by the end of FY2031. That is a future target, dependent on equity support and scaling within applicable prudential requirements, rather than money already invested.
Separately, SBI Ventures has been appointed fund manager for the Maritime Investment Fund component of the Maritime Development Fund. The ministry said SEBI registration as an Alternative Investment Fund was expected by the end of November, with a ₹5,000 crore first close targeted for January 2027. Neither milestone was reported as completed in the release.
The ministry also reported support for ₹4,500 crore of loans through the Interest Incentivisation Fund and about ₹25 crore in interest subvention released against borrowers' interest payments. These are separate programme measures and should not be added together as a single disbursement total.
