NITI Aayog and GIZ sign road freight climate agreement

NITI Aayog and Germany’s GIZ signed an implementation agreement on November 3 to support lower emissions from India’s road freight sector. The agreement falls under the second phase of the Transport Initiative for Asia, supported by the German government’s International Climate Initiative.

Barriers to electrification

NITI Aayog identified charging infrastructure, financing and regulation as areas that need work as medium and heavy freight vehicles begin to electrify. Its November 4 release formalises cooperation among the project partners and gives no charging-site list, funding amount or rollout timetable.
