The Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute will prepare a detailed project report for the proposed permanent campus of the Tripura Film and Television Institute in Agartala, according to a Ministry of Information and Broadcasting release published through PIB on 24 October 2026. The collaboration covers academic standards, practical learning and institutional capacity.
Officials from the Union ministry, the Tripura government and SRFTI discussed the institute’s development at a meeting on 23 October. The project-report commitment concerns planning a proposed campus; the release does not announce that the permanent campus has been built or opened.
TFTI already offers two one-year postgraduate certificate programmes, in Film and Video Editing and Screen Acting, the ministry said. It has also conducted specialised short courses, with four batches completing certificate courses. These existing teaching activities are separate from the proposed permanent-campus development.
The discussions highlighted changing film and media technologies, including animation, visual effects, gaming and comics, and the need to develop innovative teaching approaches. The release does not provide a new admissions deadline, fee schedule, campus-completion date or guaranteed employment outcome.
