The Indian Culinary Institute signed an agreement with Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi on October 28 for recognition of two culinary degree programmes. The Ministry of Tourism said the arrangement would enable JNU to award degrees to students who successfully complete the programmes at ICI.
The programmes are BBA in Culinary Arts & Food Business and MBA in Culinary Management. According to the ministry, JNU recognition will commence from the next academic year. The announcement does not give an admission timetable, fees or application deadline.
ICI is an institute under the Ministry of Tourism. Its courses aim to train chefs and hospitality professionals. The ministry expects the collaboration to improve opportunities for further study and employment in India and abroad; those are stated expectations, rather than guaranteed placements or automatic recognition by overseas authorities.
