Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Reserve Bank of India’s new Data Centre and Cybersecurity Training Institute in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, on 25 October 2026, according to a Prime Minister’s Office release published by PIB that evening.
The two facilities bring together banking-related digital infrastructure and cybersecurity training. In his address, Modi said the coming decade should focus on making banking more efficient and reliable, and stressed the role of modern infrastructure and skilled staff in responding to cyber threats. These are the stated purposes and expectations presented at the inauguration, rather than independently measured security outcomes.
The release reports the inauguration but does not specify the data centre’s computing capacity, the institute’s course calendar, admission process or number of training places. It also does not establish that either facility can prevent every cyberattack or eliminate banking outages.
