CBIC chairman discusses GST process reforms in Hyderabad

CBIC Chairman Shri Vivek Chaturvedi and Member (GST) Shri Sanjay Mangal interacted with GST taxpayers and trade and industry representatives in Hyderabad on 15 October 2026, according to the Finance Ministry. The ministry said the discussion covered process reforms recommended at the 57th GST Council meeting.

Chaturvedi said the recommendations included automated system-driven refunds, fewer manual touchpoints, changes concerning arrest provisions and prosecution thresholds, and intelligence-based vehicle inspections. He also sought feedback on a proposed centralised GST administration initiative for taxpayers under the Central Government’s administrative jurisdiction.
