The National Academy of Direct Taxes’ Mumbai regional campus and Maharashtra National Law University, Mumbai signed a five-year memorandum of understanding on October 30 to cooperate in training, research and academic programmes. The agreement creates a framework linking legal education with practical tax administration.
According to the official release, the framework includes faculty exchanges, guest lectures, seminars, workshops, joint training, certificate courses, research and publications. MNLU Mumbai will contribute expertise in administrative and corporate law, jurisprudence, insolvency and bankruptcy, tax litigation and emerging legal issues.
NADT-RC will contribute experience in direct tax laws, administration and investigation, digital and forensic evidence, international taxation, transfer pricing and tax treaties. These are areas of cooperation under the agreement, rather than a change in taxpayers’ obligations.
The institutions will explore opportunities for eligible Income Tax Department officers and trainees to pursue doctoral programmes at MNLU Mumbai. NADT-RC may also offer internships to university students. The release does not announce an open internship application window, guaranteed placements or doctoral admission offers.
The MoU was signed by NADT-RC Principal Additional Director General Navneet Manohar and MNLU Mumbai Vice-Chancellor Dilip Ukey. It will remain in force for five years. Programme dates and application details will need separate announcements; the signing itself is not an enrolment invitation.
