Defence Minister Rajnath Singh released the Land Warfare Doctrine at the Army Commanders' Conference in New Delhi on October 23. The Defence Ministry describes it as an overarching framework to prepare the Army for the changing character of warfare and future conflicts.
The minister urged commanders to combine a strategic outlook spanning 20–30 years with readiness for immediate and emerging challenges. The announcement reports the doctrine's release and the leadership priorities discussed; it does not disclose its complete operational contents.
Singh called for stronger capabilities in artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, data analytics, cybersecurity and secure communications. He also stressed cooperation across domains and coordination in joint operations, while saying land forces would remain important despite expanding challenges in air, maritime, space and cyber environments.
The ministry said he urged commanders to assess performance, improve capabilities and translate reforms into operational benefits. These are stated priorities, not evidence that every proposed change has already been implemented.
Singh also unveiled the annual United Nations Journal and honoured Army personnel for contributions to UN peacekeeping. The conference provides a forum for senior commanders to review ongoing initiatives and identify future policy directions, according to the ministry.
The concrete development is publication of the doctrine and the conference's review agenda. No new deployment, procurement contract or operational timetable is announced in the release.
