The India-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement is set to come into force on October 20, 2026, according to the Ministry of Commerce & Industry. Dr. Sampath Kumar, Additional Director General of Foreign Trade, said the agreement would strengthen Telangana’s pharmaceutical and textile industries and create employment opportunities. These are official assertions, not independently verified outcomes.
A consignment of agri-food products from Telangana was flagged off at the TIF-MSME Green Industrial Park in Dandu Malkapur, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district. The official release said Indian exports to New Zealand would become duty-free and that tariffs on specified goods, including textiles, clothing, leather, footwear and pharmaceuticals, would be eliminated.
