DPIIT has recognised 2,50,046 startups, with more than 25.42 lakh jobs reported across over 770 districts and 56 industries, the Commerce and Industry Ministry said in an October 27 update. These are accumulated programme figures reported by the department, not startups recognised or jobs created in a single day. The release does not give a separate reference-end date for these totals.
The ministry says 52% of recognised startups are in non-metro cities and 48% have at least one woman director. These categories can overlap and should not be added together.
Under the Startup India Seed Fund Scheme, ₹775.67 crore has been approved for 4,194 startups through 244 incubators across 32 states and Union Territories, according to the update. Approved funding is distinct from money disbursed or spent. The figures do not constitute a new application window or guarantee funding for an individual business.
