The Bureau of Indian Standards says its Bhopal branch seized 51 pieces of plywood during a complaint-based search at an Indore shop and warehouse on 23 October 2026. The action was reported in a Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution release issued through PIB on 24 October.
According to BIS, the operation involved the outlet and godown of Dainik Enterprises in Indore. The bureau reported irregularities concerning general-purpose plywood covered by IS 303 and marine plywood covered by IS 710, including alleged misuse of the ISI mark, use of an expired BIS licence and products without the mark. These are the enforcement authority’s findings as reported in its release.
The 51 seized pieces were of different brands and sizes. The release does not give their total value, identify every brand, report a court conviction or provide the business’s response. A search and seizure should not be presented as a final judicial determination.
BIS cited its conformity-assessment regulations and the plywood and wooden flush-door shutters quality-control order as the basis for the reported action. This report describes that specific enforcement operation; it does not establish that every product sold by the business, or plywood sold elsewhere in Indore, is non-compliant.
