Two new railway sections in Madhya Pradesh's Vindhya region are scheduled for inauguration on October 24, according to a Railway Ministry announcement issued through PIB on October 23. The programme covers the 53-km Satna–Devendra Nagar section and the 65-km Rewa–Churhat section, totalling 118 km.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Chief Minister Mohan Yadav are scheduled to inaugurate the sections. A Devendra Nagar–Churhat train service is also due to be flagged off. These are announced programme plans; this report does not establish that the inauguration or passenger service has already taken place.
The ministry says the Rewa–Churhat section connects Sidhi district to the rail network for the first time since Independence. The route includes major bridges and a 3.33-km tunnel through hilly terrain. The Satna–Devendra Nagar section forms part of the Lalitpur–Singrauli new-line project.
The ministry expects the links to improve passenger movement and support future movement of cement, clinker and other freight. Expected industrial, tourism and employment benefits remain projected outcomes. The release does not provide a passenger timetable or fares.
