Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on what he described as a re-election victory and said he wanted to deepen the India–Brazil Strategic Partnership, according to an October 26 release from the Prime Minister’s Office.
Modi’s message outlined continued bilateral cooperation and shared priorities of the Global South. The announcement reports India’s diplomatic response; it does not provide Brazil’s official election tally, winning margin or certification details.
The Prime Minister said he looked forward to working with Lula to expand the partnership across different sectors. He also referred to cooperation towards a more inclusive, equitable and sustainable world. The PMO release reproduced his public message but did not identify a new agreement, funding commitment or scheduled bilateral meeting.
The immediate development is therefore the congratulatory message and India’s expressed intention to strengthen ties. It should not be read as an announcement that new bilateral projects or policy changes have already been implemented.
