CCO’s Suvikalp mine-repurposing tool receives SKOCH Gold Award, PIB says

The Coal Controller’s Organisation (CCO), under the Ministry of Coal, has developed Suvikalp, an internal tool intended to help identify, assess and rank mine-repurposing projects using technical, environmental, social and economic criteria, according to a PIB release. The release says the tool supports decisions on mine closure and post-mining land use.

PIB said Suvikalp received the SKOCH Gold Award 2026 on 26 September 2026 in the “Digital Process Excellence – Data Driven Decision Making” category. It also said CCO began a national webinar series on mine repurposing, with 12 thematic webinars held under the series.
