Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla held separate meetings with parliamentary representatives from the UAE, China and Iran on October 26 during the BRICS Parliamentary Forum in New Delhi, the Lok Sabha Secretariat said through PIB. The discussions covered parliamentary exchanges, digital governance and bilateral cooperation.
Birla and UAE Federal National Council Speaker Saqr Ghobash discussed regular dialogue, delegation exchanges and sharing practices involving Digital Sansad, artificial intelligence and parliamentary committees. Trade, investment, education and youth exchanges were also discussed. The release reports discussions and commitments to cooperation, rather than signed trade or investment contracts.
In his meeting with Zheng Jianbang, vice chairman of China’s National People’s Congress, Birla called for peace along the border and resolving differences through dialogue. This is the Indian Speaker’s stated position; the release does not announce a border agreement or settlement.
Birla also discussed Chabahar Port cooperation with Iranian parliamentary representative Ahmed Naderi and stressed peace in West Asia. The account does not specify a new port contract, funding commitment or completion timetable.
