Five arrested in Hyderabad-linked gold smuggling investigation

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence reported arresting five people in a suspected gold-smuggling operation linked to Hyderabad. Officers recovered about 3.1 kg of gold and foreign currency, with the combined seizure valued at ₹5.84 crore.

The operation included interceptions near Vijayawada and of a bus travelling towards Hyderabad. Investigators suspect the gold entered from Bangladesh through Kolkata. That suspected route and the wider network remain under investigation.
