Great Britain’s retail sales volumes fell an estimated 0.4% in September 2026 after a revised 0.7% rise in August, ONS reported on October 23. Yet July–September volumes rose 0.7% against April–June.
The seasonally adjusted figures measure quantities bought, not retailers’ profits or share prices. The monthly decline and quarterly increase describe different comparison periods; the September estimate remains subject to revision.
