Around 550 tribal healers nominated by nine states and Union territories are attending the first phase of a public-health orientation programme at Kanha Shanti Vanam in Hyderabad on November 1–2, 2026, according to the Tribal Affairs Ministry. Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are among the participating states. A ministry release published through PIB on November 2 reports that the programme has been inaugurated, providing an update beyond the earlier announcement of a planned Hyderabad event.
The ministry organised the programme with the ICMR–National Institute of Health Research, Bhubaneswar, under the Janjatiya Health Institutional Transformation initiative, or JanHIT. The stated focus is recognising common health problems and danger signs, referring people for timely medical care, and strengthening links with the formal healthcare system. The other participating states and Union territory are Goa, Karnataka, Keralam, Maharashtra, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
The two-day programme includes regional-language sessions, a post-training assessment and participant feedback. The release schedules the closing ceremony and certificate distribution for November 2; it does not confirm that all participants have completed the assessment or received certificates. Attendance at the orientation does not establish the clinical effectiveness of traditional treatments or confer a medical qualification.
