Seven Centres of Excellence were inaugurated at NIT Raipur on November 3, alongside its seventeenth convocation, according to the Education Ministry. The centres span artificial intelligence, critical minerals, space research, health and engineering technologies.
The release names the MeitY IndiaAI Chhattisgarh Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence; Critical Minerals; Computational Mechanics; Space and Interplanetary Exploration (COSINE); the Maral Centre for Innovation in Rural and Tribal Health; Aerospace and Autonomous Technologies; and Nanoscience and Sustainable Energy Technologies.
Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy inaugurated the centres at Heera Hall on the campus. The ministry describes interdisciplinary research and practical technological solutions as their intended purpose; it does not provide centre-wise budgets, staffing or completed research results.
The convocation awarded 1,364 degrees: 976 undergraduate, 283 postgraduate and 105 doctoral degrees. It also presented 51 medals, comprising 25 gold, 25 silver and one overall gold medal.
The announcement confirms the inauguration and academic awards. It does not announce a new admissions window or employment guarantee. The centres' future output will need to be assessed from subsequent research and programme information, rather than inferred from the ceremony.
