NHAI reported that at least 149 fallen trees and one fallen electricity pole had been cleared from monitored national-highway stretches in Andhra Pradesh following Cyclone Arnab. The update was issued through PIB Vijayawada at 5:25 pm on October 28.
The authority said it deployed 24 quick-response teams, 32 patrol vehicles and 31 ambulances, alongside clearance equipment, particularly on affected stretches between Eluru and Srikakulam districts. It reported approximately 1,350 potholes identified or reported, with temporary rectification under way. That figure is not a count of completed repairs.
Waterlogging was reported at several locations on NH-16 and NH-516C, where pumping and drainage-clearance work continued. NHAI said tree-related traffic interruptions at specified NH-16 locations had been cleared and traffic restored. This was the authority's dated update, rather than an assurance that every road or underpass was clear.
NHAI advised motorists to follow local traffic advisories and avoid stopping beneath trees or near vulnerable roadside structures during strong winds.
