NITI Aayog launched the India S&T Scoreboard in New Delhi on November 3, bringing state and Union Territory science and technology information into an interactive platform. The stated purpose is to help policymakers compare research ecosystems and identify strengths and gaps.
The Scoreboard combines information about higher education and research institutions, deep tech startups and incubators with research publications and patents. According to NITI Aayog, its indicators cover research quality, impact, collaboration and open access, alongside the volume of output.
It covers academia, government research laboratories and industry. State profiles include policies and best practices, while comparison tools and trends over years are intended to support planning.
The November 3 release confirms the launch and describes the platform's scope. It does not publish a state ranking or numerical scores, so it provides no basis here for declaring Telangana, Andhra Pradesh or another state a leader or laggard.
NITI Aayog points readers to www.sts.niti.gov.in. Comparisons should be read with the platform's methodology and data periods; the launch announcement alone does not establish improved research outcomes.
