Ayushman Vay Vandana recorded 23.46 lakh authorised hospital admissions valued at ₹5,668.80 crore as of October 20, 2026, according to new figures released by the Health Ministry on October 29. The announcement marks two years since the scheme’s launch on October 29, 2024.
These are admissions and authorised treatment values, not a verified count of unique patients or money already paid to hospitals. Repeat hospital visits can contribute to service-use totals; the release does not provide a unique-patient breakdown.
The ministry reported 4.71 lakh cataract treatments and about 2.90 lakh chronic haemodialysis treatments. It listed coronary angioplasty as the largest category by authorised value, at about ₹649 crore. These are government administrative figures, rather than an independent assessment of treatment outcomes.
The initiative extends PM-JAY eligibility to people aged 70 and above irrespective of socio-economic status. The ministry describes a potential population of about six crore seniors in roughly 4.5 crore families; those figures should not be read as confirmed enrolments or people already treated.
The announcement describes cover of up to ₹5 lakh per family per year for secondary and tertiary hospitalisation, with a separate senior-only top-up for eligible families already under PM-JAY. It does not announce a new benefit increase on October 29. Individual eligibility and hospital arrangements require confirmation through the scheme’s official process.
