NASA said on 7 November that it had awarded Blue Origin a $94 million base contract to deliver its nuclear-powered PROMISE rover to the Moon’s south polar region. A further $140 million is available through a performance-based option. NASA is targeting a launch in late 2028 and plans an 18-month primary mission for the rover.
The agency also selected eight companies to compete for future lunar cargo deliveries. The ten-year contracting framework caps the combined value of orders at $10 billion. [evidence-1] [evidence-2]
