India has been elected president of the International Solar Alliance for a third consecutive term, Renewable Energy Minister Pralhad Joshi said at the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit and Expo on November 3. He also congratulated France on its re-election as co-president.
The minister identified financing, institution building and practical solar deployment as priorities. He cited the US$200 million Africa Solar Facility and described India's commitment as about ₹225 crore, or US$25 million. A commitment is not confirmation that the entire amount has been disbursed or that resulting projects are complete.
The release also mentions 17 Solar Technology Application Resource Centres, the SHINE capability hub and an AI-enabled ISA Academy as institutional initiatives. Their mention does not establish a new open application window or guaranteed funding for a particular Indian farmer or enterprise.
India and France established the alliance in 2015, and the ministry describes it as having 130 signatory and member countries. That combined figure should not be read as a count of 130 fully ratified members.
The November 3 statement reports the election and outlines policy priorities. It does not specify the new term's duration, an election tally or project-by-project delivery dates. Claims about the alliance's future impact remain plans requiring subsequent implementation evidence.
