Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari performed the bhoomipujan for the Multi-Modal Logistics Park at Sindi Railway in Maharashtra’s Wardha region on November 1. The project is being developed across 150 acres near Sindi Railway station by National Highways Logistics Management Limited and Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority, according to PIB Mumbai.
The announcement says cold storage, warehouses, exporter clusters and a customs office are to be established. Gadkari said a first rake carrying Maruti cars had already begun operations from the project. That reported movement should be distinguished from completion of all planned park facilities.
The park is intended to support exports of Vidarbha cotton, yarn, textiles, oranges and vegetables. The release describes links through Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority and a Bangladesh route via Haldia, avoiding the need to move that cargo through Mumbai.
The ministry says the Haldia route is expected to reduce transport costs per container from ₹1.5 lakh to ₹1 lakh. This is a projected saving, not a measured result across completed shipments.
The release gives no overall project cost, full-completion deadline or quantified employment commitment. The immediate milestone is the ceremony, alongside the minister’s report of an initial vehicle rake; the broader logistics and export benefits remain planned.
