APEDA has facilitated a 1.3-metric-tonne shipment of Sinduri pomegranates from Kullu, Himachal Pradesh, to Dubai, according to a November 3 Commerce Ministry release. The consignment comprised 650 boxes of two kilograms each and was exported by Uttar Pradesh-based Amama Exports.
The fruit was procured directly from local farmers and Bhuntar Farmer Producer Organisation, with coordination from the district horticulture administration. The FPO is associated with approximately 600 farmers; that does not establish that all 600 supplied fruit or earned the same return from this shipment.
The ministry says participating farmers achieved prices 50% above a prevailing domestic-market benchmark. It does not give the comparison prices, transaction value, individual farmer returns or the method used to calculate that difference. The figure is therefore an attributed claim, not an independently audited income increase.
APEDA presents the export as a way to diversify Himachal Pradesh’s horticultural trade beyond apples. It says future opportunities depend on buyer demand, quality and import requirements.
The release reports export facilitation and flag-off but gives no exact shipment date, confirmed retail-sales result or long-term purchase agreement. The 1.3 tonnes describes this consignment; it should not be expanded into an annual export commitment.
