Telangana’s drought declaration covers 365 mandals in 31 districts for Kharif 2026, with 111 classified as severely affected and 254 as moderately affected. The Revenue Department’s October 24 order directs district authorities to begin relief measures.
The directions cover drinking-water supply, agricultural input subsidy, fodder and cattle-camp arrangements where needed, and employment support. Collectors must maintain records of beneficiaries and expenditure and report progress. The order also asks them to take up agricultural-credit restructuring and protection against coercive loan recovery through the State Level Bankers’ Committee, subject to applicable RBI guidelines.
For farmers, an important distinction is that the order links disbursement of agricultural input subsidy to receipt of central assistance from the National Disaster Response Fund: it directs payment through direct benefit transfer within one month of receiving that assistance. The declaration itself is not proof that money has already reached a farmer’s account.
The document also records the Assembly’s request for a ₹20,000-crore special drought-relief package. That is a request to the Centre, not an approval or a release of that amount. The notification is to remain valid for six months from publication unless withdrawn earlier; additional mandals may be included through a supplementary notification.
